The State of Washington
Proclamation
WHEREAS, the Preamble to the Constitution of the state of Washington proclaims that “We the people of the State of Washington, grateful to the Supreme Ruler of the Universe for our liberties, do ordain this Constitution”; and
WHEREAS, the Declaration of Independence declares that governments are to secure our creator-endowed unalienable rights to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”; and
WHEREAS, our country was founded in part because of the desire of people to have the freedom to worship as they please;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Christine O. Gregoire, Governor of the state of Washington, do hereby proclaim October 14-20, 2012, as
Christian Heritage Week
in Washington State, and I urge all citizens to acknowledge, appreciate, and celebrate that heritage in their own way.
